Swords & Slippers system requirements
Steam lists minimum and recommended requirements for Windows, macOS and Linux. All three list 8 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended and 30 GB of available storage. The game is still marked “To be announced,” and the developer says requirements may change at release.
Choose your platform below. If you are trying a Patreon build now, its currently listed 0.0.12 installer is a Windows .exe; the Steam platform tables are not Mac or Linux development-build downloads.

01 / Windows
Minimum and recommended PC specs
Both columns require a 64-bit processor and operating system. Compare the whole column, not RAM alone.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 / AMD Radeon RX 570 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 12 |
| Available storage | 30 GB | 30 GB |
| Sound | DirectX-compatible sound card | DirectX-compatible sound card |
A PC with 16 GB of RAM still needs the listed CPU and GPU class to match the recommended column. Steam does not assign a resolution, quality preset or FPS target to either column, so “minimum” cannot honestly be translated into a tested 1080p/30 FPS promise.
The older Patreon 0.0.8 hotfix switched that development build to DirectX 11. That historical change does not override Steam's DirectX 12 recommended specification or prove which rendering API every later build uses.
02 / macOS
Apple Silicon is required
Steam explicitly lists Apple processors. An Intel Mac does not match this published requirement.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | macOS 12 Monterey | macOS 12 Monterey |
| Processor and graphics | Apple M1 — Apple Silicon only | Apple M2 Pro — Apple Silicon only |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Available storage | 30 GB | 30 GB |
Check the chip name before comparing memory: M2 and M2 Pro are different models, and this list specifically names M2 Pro in the recommended column. This guide does not infer performance for unlisted chips or claim that the Windows Patreon installer runs on macOS.
03 / Linux
Linux and SteamOS requirements
Both columns list Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / SteamOS 3 and Vulkan 1.2 drivers.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / SteamOS 3 | Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / SteamOS 3 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 / AMD Radeon RX 570 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT |
| Graphics drivers | Vulkan 1.2 | Vulkan 1.2 |
| Available storage | 30 GB | 30 GB |
SteamOS appearing in a system-requirements table is not a Steam Deck Verified badge, a handheld performance test or a Proton setup guide. A Deck's hardware still needs separate evaluation; no handheld FPS or battery-life result is established here.
04 / Before installing
Use the right requirements for the task
Separate a future Steam purchase decision from access to today's development installer.
- 1
Identify the version and platform
For the announced Steam release, start with the corresponding table above. For Patreon, check the actual installer offered: the current portal lists SwordsSlippersInstaller_0.0.12.exe. Do not mistake a Steam Mac/Linux listing for a matching Patreon package.
- 2
Compare each component
Record your operating system, processor/chip, graphics model, RAM and free storage. On Windows, include the required DirectX capability; on Linux, include Vulkan 1.2 drivers. An unlisted component needs its own comparison rather than a guess based on the model number.
- 3
Keep access and performance separate
Meeting a hardware list does not grant a Patreon membership benefit. Conversely, being eligible to download does not guarantee a particular frame rate. For authorization or membership failures, use the official access steps; for version changes, check the build history.
